Who We Are
SmartMeasurementTM (SMC) is a global exchange network specialized in supply chain optimization of Process Control Instrumentation (PCI). We have local physical presence in 25 countries supported by our advanced online procurement technology.

PCI procurement involves the analysis of application specific information. Instrumentation dealers, representatives, and other intermediaries use SMC's automated online procurement system to quickly obtain accurate and objective product selection and cost analysis.

Our Global Reach
With PCI exchange sites in 25 countries, we have the largest known pool of products, manufacturers, Distributors, and end-users in a single exchange network. Distributors in our network enjoy instant access to hundreds of products offered by our pre-qualified manufacturers throughout the world without the typical overhead associated with representing foreign brands.

Technical Analysis and Product Selection
Our unique Smart MatrixTM configuration software is designed to match your clients' application requirements with the most appropriate instrumentation technology complete with product analysis and ranking . Or, if the user so desires, our powerful search engine may be used to find suitable products for a given manufacturer or technology.

Partner Protection with SMC
We encourage process control intermediaries to form partnership within the SMC Group. We recognize the special role of Distributors in providing customers with the best solutions for their instrumentation and control applications and we negotiate the best pricing from Suppliers on behalf of our member Distributors. On top of the pricing advantage, SMC protects its Distributors' business leads. When an RFQ is sent to a Distributor, they have an exclusive time window to secure the order as a sole source.

Greater Access to Suppliers, Markets, and High-Value Products
In the rapidly changing world of internet services, we believe that independent representatives (Distributors) will gain a strategic advantage by joining the SMC Group. Our worldwide exchange ensures far greater access to high-value products rigorously evaluated and qualified by our experienced team of process engineers. The natural free market competitive forces we bring together allow our customers to receive the best value, i.e., the best combination of technology, quality, delivery, and price.

Exclusive Rights
Depending on your requirements, we may provide you with exclusive rights to certain products or markets. Depending on your territory, you may qualify as a sub-agent to one of our local suppliers, enabling you to expand your product range. You may also qualify for exclusive regional rights (an area within a country), exclusive customer rights (a power plant, steel company etc.) or exclusive industry segment rights (chemical, refinery, etc.).

Right to Receive Quotes
If you qualify as a Site Representative, you will be given an annual sales target. If you meet the target, you will continue to be the exclusive agent in that given market. As our Site Representative with exclusive rights, all Request For Quotations (RFQs) will be passed on to you automatically. If there is no exclusive dealer in a market and more than one representative (dealer) specifies equipment for the same project, you will be allowed to bid as one of the top three bidders for that particular equipment. In most cases, the first company to identify a project will have the right to submit a quote. Others may get product information and will be either referred to the manufacturer or the representative for that specific equipment.

  • Local Physical Presence
    Our exchange network brings buyers and sellers together to procure PCI products from qualified manufacturers. Each site is co-owned by local SMC companies and is managed by a well-qualified instrumentation manager with extensive knowledge in PCI technologies and PCI supply chain management. These managers provide the local physical infrastructure for SMC by qualifying the best local suppliers and Distributors/representatives. They are also responsible for overseeing the performance of all local providers in terms of technical training, installation, and field service. Each site is designed by our local partner to reflect the uniqueness of the local market, but the functionality of each site has been standardized.

  • Technical Infrastructure
    SMC technical infrastructure includes a fully integrated procurement transaction process:
    • Smart MatrixTM configuration software (Configuration Wizard) is used to guide the user through the Application Data Sheet (ADS) to determine the unbiased "best-fit" products that meet the requirements of their specific applications.
    • Auto generation of specifications and standard forms: Request for Quote (RFQ), Supplier Purchase Order (SPO), confirmation, shipping, invoicing, and order status reporting.

    All technical information is strictly objective and does not favor one manufacturer, product or technology over another.

  • Reduce Transaction Costs
    Transaction costs typically account for 30-40% of the cost of sales. Our online integrated transaction system (ADS/RFQ/SPO) significantly reduces overhead costs. Our system promotes a do-it-right-the-first-time methodology and ensures only the best-fit product for the specific application is referred to the manufacturer.

  • Provide all Customers a bias-free analysis of your products and a wealth of online technical information relevant to each product sold:
    • Product configuration software (Configuration Wizard, including ADS sizing and specifying programs)
    • Supplier specifications, product descriptions, engineering principals, equations, drawings, etc.
    • SMC Forums are 24/7, country oriented, and support local languages. (Each Supplier has two forums: One for end-users (public communication) and one for Distributors and site managers (proprietary and confidential information)
    • Search engines

  • Convenient access to our user-friendly technical information significantly improves the decision-making process, quotation efficiency, and transaction document processing/and tracking.
Distributor Support
Qualified Distributors are assisted by their local site manager and the suppliers. Our (global) forums ensure that all your sales and service questions will be adequately addressed in a timely manner by your local site manager, the export manager (if a German company, for example, the German export manager), and the supplier's engineers.
